Dániel Nagy completes CUPRA ETCR lineup

Dániel Nagy has completed the four-strong driver line-up for CUPRA in this year’s inaugural all-electric PURE ETCR series, with the Hungarian joining the Zengő Motorsport-run outfit.

Nagy, 23, has been a regular in touring car competition since 2016, in recent years competing in the TCR Europe series, where he was a title contender in 2018 and won one race.

He made an appearance at the season-opening round of TCR Europe earlier this year in a CUPRA run by Zengő Motorsport, and now Nagy will join the field for the first-ever season of electric touring car racing.

He will partner Jordi Gené, Mattias Ekström and Mikel Azcona in the ranks at the Hungarian team, sharing one of the two electric CUPRA Leon Compeitción TCR cars.

PURE ETCR driver line-up revealed

Twelve drivers will participate in the inaugural season of PURE ETCR, representing three different manufacturers – CUPRA, Hyundai and Alfa Romeo.

Hyundai will be represented by the Veloster N ETCR, which is to be driven by Augusto Farfus, Jean-Karl Vernay, John Filippi and Tom Chilton.

The Romeo Ferraris-built Alfa Romeo Giulia ETCR will be driven by Stefano Coletti, Oliver Webb, Rodrigo Baptista and Luca Filippi.

Romeo Ferraris will be running its two cars in alliance with Hungarian outfit M1RA, meaning that more than half of the grid has connections to Hungarian touring car teams, with Zengő Motorsport running both CUPRA cars on behalf of the Spanish manufacturer.

The new series gets underway at Vallelunga in Italy this weekend.
