TCR Europe introduces drop scores to ease travel restrictions hurdle

The organisers of the TCR Europe series have introduced a drop score rule for the 2021 TCR Europe season, in an attempt to ease the challenges presented by possible COVID-19 travel restrictions this year.

The TCR Europe teams have voted unanimously for the change to the 2021 Sporting Regulations to permit the drop scores, which will see a driver’s two worst race results not count towards the championship.

Article 16a has been amended such that only 12 results out of the 14 races will be taken into account for the final drivers’ championship.

However, all results will remain valid for the Team’s championship and the Rookie and Diamond trophies.

“We have proposed the change with the aim of helping the team to cope with the possible travelling restrictions that might be caused during the season by the pandemic,” explained promoter Paulo Ferreira.

“We are pleased to say that the teams have fully understood the spirit of the proposal and agreed to it unanimously.”
