Franco Girolami was the quickest driver in the second TCR Europe practice session at Circuit Paul Ricard, with the Honda driver beating the Hyundai of Niels Langeveld by almost four tenths of a second.
Argentine racer Girolami hit the top of the times with his final lap of 2 minutes 13.356 seconds in the closing minutes of the session, demoting Dutchman Langeveld to second.
Sébastien Loeb Racing driver Langeveld had earlier sat atop the times for much of the session, having put his Elantra N on top first with a lap of 2 minutes 13.818 seconds before he then improved to a time of 2:13.743 in the final minutes.
Langeveld’s lap was good enough for second, as times proved to be almost a second faster than they had been in the first session earlier in the day.
His SLR team-mate Sami Taoufik was third quickest, ahead of the CUPRA of Mikel Azcona in fourth, who had earlier had to miss the opening session of the day.
Jimmy Clairet, who had been second behind his brother in first practice, was the best Peugeot driver in fifth, ahead of Mehdi Bennani’s Hyundai in sixth.
Felice Jelmini made sure all four SLR Hyundai Elantra’s were in the top seven places with the seventh quickest time, ahead of the best Brutal Fish Racing Honda of Jack Young in eighth.
The top ten was completed by FP1 pace-setter Teddy Clairet and Comtoyou Racing’s Tom Coronel.
Sylvain Pussier, who had earlier got his older CUPRA TCR into the top ten in first practice, was just 19th in second practice, over two seconds off the pace.
Qualifying is scheduled to get underway at 10:00 CEST on Saturday (09:00 BST) followed by race one at 16:45 CEST (15:45 BST).
