Dániel Nagy misses second TCR Europe event at Le Castellet

Dániel Nagy will not take part in the second TCR Europe event of the season at Circuit Paul Ricard, after confirming via social media that sponsorship issues had caused his absence.

Nagy was a late entry into the series for the season opener at the Slovakiaring earlier this month, where he raced a CUPRA Leon Competición for Zengő Motorsport.

A strong weekend saw the Hungarian finish third in the first race and fifth in race two, meaning he left Slovakia third overall in the drivers’ standings.

But the 23-year-old won’t be racing in the South of France this weekend due to financial challenges.

“I just wanted to tell you guys that I’ll miss the following round of TCR Europe,” Nagy posted on Facebook.

“We tried to put it together with the team and the sponsors especially after the strong weekend at Slovakia, but could not succeed…

“It’s not easy to give up the good position (P3) in the championship but I’m not worried. We’re working on a big project; I hope that I can share good news about it very soon. Keep on going.”

New rules introduced for the 2021 season mean drivers will drop their worst score of the season, allowing drivers to continue to fight for the overall drivers’ title even if they miss an event.
