Argentine outfit Squadra Martino has confirmed that it will field two Honda Civic Type-R cars in this year’s inaugural TCR South America series.
The team, led by Sebastian Martino, is expecting the delivery of its cars, which are already in Argentina, next week.
The preparation of the cars will take place in the same facilities as the Puma energy Honda Racing team which competes in Argentina’s leading Super TC2000 series.
′”The truth is, this new project puts us back on the international stage and within a championship that will surely be very competitive as TCR is used to doing in the rest of the world,” said Sebastián Martino, General Manager of Squadra Martino.
“For this structure it will be a huge challenge to put two Honda Civic Type R TCR on the grid. We have everything to fight from the start for important things.”
Federico Punteri, Director of TCR south America, welcomed the addition of the Argentine team to the regional series.
“We are very happy with the addition of Squadra Martino to TCR South America,” added Punteri. “It’s a team with a great career in Argentina and throughout the region.
“With these two new Honda Civic Type R, the grid is growing for our inaugural season.”
TCR South America will get underway at Goiânia on 23 May.
