The TCR Europe series will revert to seven race meetings in 2021, confirming its provisional calendar today with at least four circuits from the current season being retained.
Ahead of the season finale this weekend at Jarama, the promoter has unveiled a seven event calendar for 2021, one more event than in 2020 after the calendar had to be amended and shortened due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The season will be spaced out much more than this year as well, with the season opener taking place at Monza on 16 – 18 April and concluding on 8 – 10 October in Barcelona.
The second round will take place on 7 – 9 May at an undisclosed venue, before the series returns to Circuit Paul Ricard in the south of France on 28 – 30 May later in the month.
Zandvoort returns to the calendar for the first time since 2018 with a date on 18 – 20 June, before the series then moves to Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, either on 23 – 25 July or 29 – 31 July.
A second yet-to-be-confirmed circuit will host the penultimate round on 17 – 19 September, before the series concludes in Barcelona.
“2020 will be remembered as the most difficult season for motorsport, with all the schedule changes and adjustments that were induced by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said promoter Paulo Ferreira.
“We are pleased that with the help of the circuits we have been able to put together a fair number of events to run the TCR Europe in the best possible way.
“In order to express our gratitude to our competitors for their commitment and for their will to compete despite all the complications triggered by the safety protocols, we have worked hard to secure in advance a set of dates for the next season that sticks with TCR Europe’s traditional offer: seven racing weekends in some of the most iconic circuits in Europe.
“On top of this I can confirm that costs will not be increased.”
