Jarama-based SMC Junior Motorsport will join the grid for the season finale of the TCR Europe series in Spain this weekend, fielding two Peugeot 308 TCR cars for Enrique Hernando and Fernando Navarrette.
The team will run the cars which it raced last weekend in the TCR Ibérico event at the circuit, where Team Principal Gonzalo de Andrés secured a double victory by beating Evgenii Leonov, another TCR Europe racer, in both races.
Fielding 25-year-old Hernando, the Madrid-based racer is one of the top drivers in the Campeonato de España Resistencia, where he has won four races in the SMC-run Peugeot shared with Andrés.
Hernando has previously entered one TCR Europe event before, racing at Barcelona in 2018 in a Peugeot 308 TCR entered by Sports & You, where he took a best result of 18th.
Navarrette on the other hand is a complete rookie to TCR, having never previously raced a TCR touring car. The 40-year-old has extensive front-wheel drive tin top experience though, having won the Spanish titles in Renault Clio and Peugeot 207 cups.
