Austrian outfit Team Wimmer Werk Motorsport will bring the new CUPRA Leon Competición to the ADAC TCR Germany series for the first time this weekend, fielding Felix Wimmer and Günter Benninger.
The team has previously been most active in TCR Italy, campaigning in selected rounds of the 2018 season and contesting most of the 2019 season.
Notably, Felix Wimmer was victorious in the older-spec CUPRA at Mugello last year, on his way to seventh in the TCR Italy standings.
Wimmer, 30, and Benninger, 59, will race the new Leon Competición cars at the Hockenheimring this weekend.
“In terms of the results, we don’t have great expectations,” said Max Wimmer, brother of Felix and the Team Principal. “The car is new to us; we had little test time.
“But of course, we’ll give it our best. We’re interested in the series, we’ve been following it for a long time.
“Now we want to see that we can do well this weekend. We’re looking forward to it!”
