Two more dates confirmed for revised TCR Europe calendar

Two more dates have been confirmed for the revised 2020 TCR Europe calendar, with the events at Spa-Francorchamps and a yet-to-be-confirmed venue slated for late October and early November respectively.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the calendar for this year’s TCR Europe series has had to be heavily modified on more than one occasion.

The season had originally been set to be seven events, but this has now been reduced to six as a result of the global coronavirus situation.

Events at Oschersleben, Red Bull Ring and Circuit Paul Ricard have already been cancelled. The season is now set to begin on the weekend of 11-13 September at Zolder in Belgium.

The dates for the first three events, at Zolder, Monza and Barcelona, had already been confirmed. Now the dates for Spa (22-24 October) and the fifth event at an unnamed venue (6-8 November) have been revealed.

The event at Spa will run as a prelude to the Total 24 Hours of Spa – hence the racing will be completed by the Saturday.

The venue for the fifth event of the year has yet to be confirmed, but the promoter has indicated that it is likely to be in Italy.

Whilst the date for the event at Jarama in Spain has yet to be confirmed, it has been revealed that it will be the season finale, in the frame of a race meeting promoted by the Spanish National Sporting Authority, due to the warmer climate in the Iberian peninsula at the end of the year.
