Jim Ka To gets wildcard entry for WTCR Race of Japan

Jim Ka To will enter the FIA World Touring Car Cup races in Japan later this month, with the Hong Kong racer driving a Honda Civic Type-R with KC Motorgroup at Suzuka.

Jim Ka To will get behind the wheel of a third Honda in the Hong Kong team when WTCR races on the Suzuka East course on 25 – 27 October.

The former single-seater racer will line up alongside Tiago Monteiro and Attila Tassi, although he will be entered under a separate banner.

“I’m very happy to have a chance to represent KC Motorgroup and to compete in the WTCR,” said Jim Ka To, the 2008 Formula Renault Asian Challenge champion. “I will try my best to get good results.”

Jim Ka To has already raced with the team in the Super Taikyu series, where he helped the team to score a podium finish on its début at Suzuka earlier in the year. He also competed for the team in the 2013 FIA World Endurance Championship in LMP2 at Silverstone.

“We’re excited to see Jim Ka To behind the wheel of the Honda Civic Type R TCR for his World Touring Car Cup debut,” said Team Founder Paul Ip. “We have had a very strong season with the car in Super Taikyu and TCR Japan, so we look forward to seeing how Jim does.”
