Dan Cammish ‘more motivated than ever to go all guns blazing’

Dan Cammish says that he is ‘more motivated than ever to go all guns blazing’ for the British Touring Car Championship title at Brands Hatch this weekend, after he signed a new two-year deal with Team Dynamics earlier in the week.

Cammish is just 16 points behind series leader Colin Turkington, and the Honda driver is the main pretender to the reigning champion’s title.

The Yorkshireman heads into the weekend full of confidence, having extended his BTCC contract prior to the event and going to a circuit where he took his first two BTCC wins last year.

“After signing a new two-year contract this week, I am motivated more than ever to go all guns blazing for this title and to repay the team’s faith in me,” said Cammish. “Watch out boys I’m coming to get you…”

After Silverstone, where Cammish only finished in the top ten in race two, when he took a podium result, he admitted to feeling ‘deflated’ after missing out on a strong result in the rain-affected race three.

The Honda driver has maintained his title tilt despite only winning one race during 2019, with consistency being a key factor in the 30-year-old’s campaign.

“I felt deflated [after Silverstone] but I’ll pick my head up, drive the wheels off the thing and go for it,” said Cammish after the penultimate event. “It’s not a million miles away, 16 points. If you’d said that in the middle of the season, I wouldn’t have believed you.

“The team have done great, I’ve been consistent and we’ve put up a fight.

“The BMW is the fastest thing out there when it’s like for like – they’ve done a fantastic job. They’re still scrabbling around though, trying to get the job done.

“I’ll keep hanging in there and make myself a nuisance.”
