Norbert Michelisz thanks Augusto Farfus for race three podium

Norbert Michelisz was grateful to BRC Racing team-mate Augusto Farfus for gifting him a podium finish in the final FIA World Touring Car Cup race at Zandvoort, with team orders coming into play at the end of the day.

Like Lynk & Co in the lead, the Hyundai team also implemented team orders in the race, with Farfus ceding to Michelisz at the chequered flag.

The Hungarian is the marque’s best-placed driver in the championship standings with 130 points, and the extra points for third mean he leaves The Netherlands in fourth with a deficit of 31 points to series leader Esteban Guerrieri.

Michelisz also complimented Cyan Racing for their work in securing victory, with Lynk & Co having won two out of the three races at the coastal circuit, including two 1-2 finishes.

“First of all I have to say congratulations to the guys around me – Lynk & Co and Esteban have done an amazing job this weekend,” said Michelisz.

“It should be Augusto sitting up here instead of me. He would have deserved to be on the podium, but it was a decision made that I could overtake him.

“Of course, if you are the lucky one you take the possibility, but in the end the only thing I can say is congrats to the team and thanks to Augusto.”

Farfus finished the race in fourth – his best WTCR result to-date – and as a result the Brazilian moves up to 12th overall in the standings with 75 points.
