Maxime Potty aiming for qualifying improvements and strong points

Maxime Potty is aiming to make the second part of qualifying and take home two strong points finishes in the TCR Europe double header at Hockenheim this weekend.

Potty, who arrives at the 2.8-mile Baden-Wurttemberg circuit 14th overall in the points after a solitary top-ten finish at the Hungaroring season-opener last month, is also hopeful of matching up well against his rivals.

The Belgian will also have a fight on his hands to challenge for the TCR Benelux title for a second successive season, trailing current points leader and compatriot Gilles Magnus by 47 points heading into the weekend.

“Clearly, we want a change of fortune during this meeting at Hockenheim,” said Potty.

“I discovered the track during pre-season tests and I immediately felt good about it. I had a great deal of fun and set some good times. Although the weather will be much warmer than during testing, I hope to be able to perform well against my opponents.”

“We missed the second part of qualifying by a hair’s breadth in Hungary. Our first objective this time is to be in the Top 12 after Q1!

“We have seen that Volkswagen have suffered in all the TCR championships since the beginning of the year, mainly because of the weight we have to carry as ballast.

“I hope that this will be adjusted at Hockenheim so that we can also have a say in the proceedings. If that is the case, I want to win big points in both TCR Europe and TCR Benelux. I know that the whole team is behind me and our motivation is enormous.”
