Nico Müller ensured that Audi topped all four days of the official pre-season DTM tests at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz, ending Thursday just over a tenth ahead of Jamie Green.
Just as with each of the three previous days, Audi locked out the top three positions, with Team Abt Sportsline’s Müller ahead of Team Rosberg’s Green and Team Pheonix’s Loïc Duval.
The Ingolstadt marque went further on Thursday though, as it secured the top six positions in the test, with René Rast, Jonathan Aberdein and Mike Rockenfeller filling the next positions.
BMW’s Sheldon van der Linde was the best of the rest, the South African being the only other driver within a second of Müller’s pace.
BMW Team RBM’s Joel Eriksson, Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline’s Robin Frijns and BMW Team RBM’s Philipp Eng completed the top ten, the latter getting more laps under his belt than any other driver with 181 tours.
Two of the R-Motorsport Aston Martins of Paul di Resta and Ferdinand von Habsburg again took part in the running, but neither made the top ten and ended up in 11th and 12th respectively.
WRT’s confirmed new signing, Pietro Fittipaldi, completed the drivers who completed laps on Thursday as the slowest driver.
The first round of the 2019 DTM, running to new Class One regulations, gets underway at Hockenheim on May 3 – 5.
