HMO Customer Racing signs Nathan Morcom as first driver

Nathan Morcom will race for HMO Customer Racing in the 2019 TCR Australia series, becoming the first driver to sign up to race one of the team’s Hyundai i30 N TCR cars.

The 27-year-old has previously competed in the Dunlop Super2 Series, racing with Eggleston Motorsport in 2017 and 2018 at the wheel of a Holden VF Commodore. Last year he finished 19th overall in the drivers’ standings.

Morcom has also competed in the Australian GT Championship in 2015 and 2016, finishing third overall in the latter year. He also took part in the Australian Endurance Championship in 2016 in the same McLaren 650S GT3.

“I’m really looking forward to driving the Hyundai i30 N in TCR for HMO Customer Racing in 2019,” said Morcom.

“It’s a great feeling to be part of the first outfit to race in the all new TCR Series here in Australia.”

Morcom has also previously competed in ADAC GT Masters in 2014 and carries with him a wealth of experience prior to embarking on front-wheel drive racing in TCR Australia this coming year.

“The team is looking really good. It’s great to have the two cars here in Australia already, it provides a great platform for our engineers to prepare the cars properly leading into round one.

“The team is definitely looking forward to seeing how far we can push the Hyundai i30 N in the season opener in May.

“The test session went well at Sydney Motorsport Park. It provided a further insight into the habits of the car, and it was pleasing to see what we put in place was running nicely within the Hyundai set up.”

Ahead of the first round of TCR Australia, which takes place at Sydney Motorsport Park on May 17 – 19, Morcom also made a guest appearance in the Ultimate Speed Comparison at the Australian Grand Prix in March.

Morcom’s team-mate at HMO Customer Racing will be revealed in due course.
