Davit Kajaia returns to TCR racing with PCR Sport in 2019

Goergian motorsport hero Davit Kajaia will return to TCR racing in 2019, joining PCR Sport to race a CUPRA in the TCR Europe series, after a one-year sabbatical in 2018.

Kajaia, 35, was a regular in European touring car competition between 2015 and 2017, initially competing in the FIA European Touring Car Cup with Engstler Motorsport, before moving to the TCR International Series in 2016 and 2017.

The Georgian racer’s career to-date culminated with a memorable win in the opening race of the season at the Rustavi International Motorpark in 2017, when he was victorious in front of home fans.

“I am so happy to have this opportunity to re-join TCR, this time in the European Series, representing again Mia Force and Georgia,” said Kajaia.

“Throughout the past season I have only been thinking about this return. Unfortunately, we made quite a late arrangement and this left me no chances to do pre-season tests.

“But I am sure that working with a highly professional team like PCR Sport will help me minimize this lack [of preparation].

“I can hardly wait to get behind the steering wheel again! So what can I say? Thank you Georgia, and hello Europe!”

Kajaia will be run at the Spanish team, which clinched the 2018 TCR Europe title with Mikel Azcona, under the banner of PCR Sport with Georgia.
