Senna Proctor confirmed in Team BMR Subaru for 2019

Senna Proctor has been confirmed as Team BMR’s first signing for the 2019 British Touring Car Championship, with the 20-year-old set to get behind the wheel of one of the outfit’s Subaru Levorgs.

Proctor made his BTCC début in 2017 racing with the Power Maxed Racing team, continuing in 2018 in one of the squads Vauxhall Astras. In his maiden season Proctor secured the Jack Sears Trophy for rookie drivers.

In the second race of 2018 Proctor became the third-youngest race winner in BTCC history when he stood on the top step of the podium at Brands Hatch, going on to take another two podiums later in the year to finish 12th overall in the drivers’ championship standings.

Proctor previously raced with BMR in 2015 when he was part of the BMR Academy, racing in the Ginetta Junior Championship before moving up to the Renault UK Clio Cup Championship in 2016.

“I am very excited to be returning to BMR Racing for the 2019 season,” said Proctor. “After racing under the BMR banner in 2015 and 2016, the timing to return is right so when the call came in everything seemed to fit perfectly and it was an easy decision to make.

“I would like to thank everyone at BMR Racing for putting their faith in me. I can’t wait to get out testing and sample the Subaru Levorg; I think the rear-wheel drive car will suit my driving style.

“After two successful years in the BTCC, I have found my feet and I am ready for the next step.

“My aim this year is to win races and to be in with a shot of the title come the last round of the season.”

BMR has also confirmed renewed support from insurance company Adrian Flux, as well as continued manufacturer backing from Subaru UK, with the latter partnership entering into its fourth year.

“Our involvement in BTCC has much more to give us,” said Paul Tunnicliffe, Director of Subaru UK. “Delighted though we were with Ash Sutton’s epic individual win in 2017, we feel the superiority of the Subaru Levorg really deserves victory in the manufacturers’ category.

“Senna’s signing is the first step to achieving this goal. He is a more than fitting driver to represent us in this prestigious championship, and we confidently expect to see him challenging for the top honours from the get-go.

“We can’t wait for Brands Hatch in April”

BMR Racing Team Manager Micky Sergeant is looking forward to working with one of the youngest drivers on the grid in 2019.

“It is an absolute pleasure to have Senna on board and to renew our contracts with both Adrian Flux Insurance Services and Subaru UK,” added Sergeant.

“Senna has unfinished business at BMR and he will be coming back to his roots where his rear wheeled drive experience from his Ginetta days took him to the championship title runner up in 2015 as a BMR Academy driver.

“Winning the Jack Sears Trophy in his maiden BTCC year puts him in good company and his first win in 2018, along with a brace of podiums and a dozen top ten finishes, certainly makes him one to watch again in 2019.

“Last year saw an even more competitive BTCC than ever before and we are very excited to be able to contest the championship titles once again with the Subaru Levorg in collaboration with Adrian Flux. Our aim is to continually develop every area of the team to ensure that the results speak for themselves.

“The news has given the team a boost of excitement and it really is a true testament to all of their hard work last year. We can’t wait for the first round at Brands Hatch in April.”
