Engstler Motorsport has confirmed that Luca Engstler, the reigning TCR Asia and TCR Malaysia champion, will return to defend his TCR Asia series title in 2019.
Engstler clinched the 2018 TCR title after securing four victories in a Volkswagen Golf GTi TCR, whilst the German also contested the ADAC TCR Germany series in Europe. He was instrumental in also helping Engstler Motorsport to lift the 2018 TCR Asia Teams’ title.
The 18-year-old recently won the six-event TCR Malaysia title in a Hyundai i30 N TCR, and he has now been confirmed as returning to Asia later this year to campaign in a second season of TCR Asia.
At the same time, Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing has confirmed that Engstler Motorsport will be the official parts agent for the TCR Asia Series, with Engstler Motorsport having a base at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.
“We have been active in motorsport in Asia for many years and feel very close to racing here too,” said Engstler Motorsport owner Franz Engstler.
“We are very pleased that we are now official partner for Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing for the TCR Asia Series. We rely on Hyundai and look forward to this new task.”
