Carl Swift returns for TCR UK finale at Donington Park

Maximum Motorsport’s Carl Swift has confirmed he will return for the final rounds of the TCR UK championship at Donington Park next weekend [October 13th and 14th].

Swift was forced to miss the penultimate event at Croft after sustaining heavy damage to his CUPRA following contact with Robert Gilmour’s Alfa Romeo in race one at Oulton Park.

After opting to miss the Croft round to focus on completing the extensive repairs, he will return to the championship as it finishes its inaugural season at Donington Park.

“It was disappointing to have to miss Croft, but while the chassis was undamaged, we had to replace just about every piece of carbon fibre on the car,” said Swift.

“The frustrating thing is that we had an engineer from CUPRA Racing with us at Oulton Park and both Stewart Lines and myself saw some real improvements in our cars as a result.”

After scoring his maiden podium in race two at Castle Combe, Swift is aiming for more silverware at his home circuit.

“I’m looking forward to Donington Park and the chance to build on the progress that we’d made at Oulton but were unable to demonstrate thanks to the accident.

“I also really like Donington as it’s my home track and the car should go well there; it’s the kind of track that should suit the VAG cars.

“I’m shaking the car down at Silverstone later this week and so we’ll see how that goes.”
