Senna Proctor eyeing silverware after qualifying best of the rest behind Hondas

Power Maxed Racing’s Senna Proctor is aiming for a podium in the British Touring Car Championships triple-header of races at Brands Hatch, after qualifying on the third row behind five Hondas.

Proctor, who took his maiden victory earlier this season in race two at the Kent circuit on the Indy layout, set a time of 1:30.847 in his Vauxhall Astra to place him sixth.

He told TouringCars.Net that going into the session he would have “taken that” as a result, but felt there was still more time to be gained.

“Overall it was good,” said Proctor. “I’d have taken that at the start of the session. I’m a little bit disappointed because there was a little bit more on the table, but only maybe another position or so.

“So I can’t be too displeased with it and the boys have done a great job, so we’ll see what tomorrow brings really. I wouldn’t say Saturday is irrelevant but as long as you’re somewhere in that top ten, you can compete from there.

“So we’ll certainly be going for that podium tomorrow.”

After that race victory at Brands Hatch in April, and his second overall podium at in the third contest at Croft, Proctor is eager to get back up onto the podium today [30 September].

“To come home with silverware will be the goal, a win would be amazing,” he said.

“But podiums we’d be very happy with, score some more points and maybe try to get into the top ten of the championship.”

Proctor has opted to run the softer compound Dunlop rubber in race two of the day as – like many other drivers – he has used his other allocations for the year.

“I think we’re race two, obviously everyone has took their allocation so we kind of get what we’re given!

“But that should be OK tomorrow, it’ll be getting the first race out of the way tomorrow then really push on in the second race when we get the soft I think.

“I haven’t really looked yet about who is ahead of me on the soft but hopefully not many! We’ll be pushing hard in all three races.”
