Dan Lloyd targeting podiums at ‘favourite circuit’ on BTCC calendar

BTC Norlin’s Dan Lloyd says he is targeting podium finishes in this weekend’s triple-header of British Touring Car Championship races at Brands Hatch GP.

The Huddersfield racer has endured a tough season after scoring his maiden victory in race three at Croft in June, with only six points finishes after that victory.

Lloyd, who currently leads the TCR UK championship standings, is eager to finish his 2018 campaign on a high this weekend as Brands Hatch GP circuit is his favourite on the BTCC calendar.

“I’m absolutely buzzing for this weekend,” said Lloyd. “Brands Hatch GP is my favourite circuit on the BTCC calendar and I’m hoping for big things!

“We’ve had some incredible bad luck in the last few rounds, through no fault of our own, and it really does feels like lost opportunities. But that’s how it goes in the BTCC, you have to dust yourself off and get back out there again.”

Lloyd, who started his 2018 BTCC season at Oulton Park after replacing James Nash, believes qualifying well is the key to success this weekend on the 2.4-mile GP layout.

“We know that we have the pace, we just need to stay out of trouble and get a strong qualifying position on Saturday,” he added.

“If we can break into the top ten or twelve, then, for sure we’ll be in a good place to push forward and challenge for a podium or two.”

“That’s the plan, and there’s no reason why we can’t achieve that. The BTC Norlin Racing crew have been outstanding this year and I’m incredibly grateful to Bert Taylor for having the faith to put me into the car alongside Chris [Smiley].

“It would be the perfect end to the season and payback to the team and my sponsors to collect some more silverware this weekend.”
