Cyan Racing reveal new Lynk & Co touring car programme

Cyan Racing has released a teaser video confirming a new partnership with Geely Group brand Lynk & Co, confirming that the Chinese-owned Swedish team are entering the world of TCR.

Cyan Racing clinched the 2017 World Touring Car Championship with Volvo, but had been quiet in the past year as the championship went into hiatus and the all-new FIA World Touring Car Cup, also called WTCR, took its place.

Geely Group Motorsport was set up in March this year to run the motorsport activities for the Chinese marque, taking over those previously run by Polestar Cyan Racing.

It meant that Cyan Racing was consigned to a quiet racing year competing in the Swedish GT Championship with the Lotus Evora GT4, after Geely bought the Norfolk manufacturer in May 2017.

Lynk & Co is a new Chinese car brand which was only established in 2016, meaning that the partnership with Cyan Racing will be the first motorsport programme for the brand.

The car is likely to be based upon the mid-size Lynk & Co 03 Saloon which will go on sale in China next year and in Europe from 2020.

Thed Björk also featured in the teaser video. Björk has been racing a Hyundai i30 N TCR with Yvan Muller’s YMR team in 2017, sporting a livery which features the CMYK code for ‘Cyan’ on the side of the car (100-0-0-0).

Further information is expected to be revealed in October 19th.
