Ash Sutton and Tom Ingram fail ride height check and thrown out of result

Both Ash Sutton and Tom Ingram have been excluded from the results of the second British Touring Car Championship race at Knockhill for failing the post-race ride height check, handing victory to BMW’s Andrew Jordan.

Subaru’s Ash Sutton had led the entire race from the front, which was eventually red-flagged after 20 laps due to heavy rain and the fact that AmD Tuning’s Sam Smelt aquaplaned off the circuit at the first corner.

However immediately following the race, Sutton’s Subaru was seen to fail the ride height check, creating confusion around the race result. To add to the confusion, Ingram’s Toyota also failed the check on the front, but not on the sides.

The exclusions hand victory to Jordan, whilst also affecting the reverse-grid draw for race three, which will see the top six reversed and puts Motorbase’s Tom Chilton on pole position.

Both Sutton and Ingram will have to start race three at the back of the grid, carrying the success ballast of 75 kg and 69 kg which they would gained from finishing the race in first and second respectively.

As both drivers are in the title mix, their exclusion hands BMW’s Colin Turkington a huge boost, with the Northern Irishman being classified in fourth and now holding the biggest championship points lead of the season at 24 points over Ingram.
