Dušan Borkovič heads the times in second Hungaroring practice

Target Competition’s Dušan Borkovič was the fastest driver in second practice for the TCR Europe series at the Hungaroring, with the Serbian racer leading a Hyundai 1-2-3 ahead of team-mate Kris Richard and M1RA’s Francisco Mora.

Borkovič went to the top of the times just past the halfway stage of the session, with a time that was significantly better than the quickest lap posted earlier in the morning by Dániel Nagy.

Swiss racer Richard was a significant seven tenths further back in second, whilst Portuguese Mora was the only other driver to be within a second of the pace in third, such was Borkovič’s speed.

Comtoyou Racing’s Maxime Potty was fourth fastest, having dropped back in the session as Richard improved late on, ahead of FP1 pace-setter Nagy in fifth.

WRT’s Jean-Karl Vernay was sixth in his Audi, ahead of the Honda pair of KCMG’s Attila Tassi and Josh Files in seventh and eighth respectively, the duo having been amongst the first to put in quick laps during the half-hour session.

Autodis Racing by THX team-mates Loris Cencetti, racing this weekend for the first time in a Civic after swapping cars with his team-mate, and Stefano Comini completed the top ten, making it four Hondas in the top ten.

Points leader Mikel Azcona struggled for pace once again in his PCR Sport CUPRA, languishing down in 15th position, 2.702 seconds off the pace on his first outing at the Budapest circuit.

Several drivers were called up for repeatedly exceeding track limits, including Files, Comini, Danny Kroes and Cedric Piro.

Target Competition’s Reece Barr had earlier crashed out in first practice at Turn 5, but his team managed to repair his Hyundai and he entered the session, only to stop after two laps with a technical issue.

Saturday’s qualifying session takes place at 09:55 CEST (08:55 BST).
