Reigning champion Ash Sutton topped a British Touring Car Championship session for the first time in 2018 by heading up the time sheets in second practice at Croft.
All three Team BMR-run Subaru Levorg GTs have shown improved form around the 2.1 mile Yorkshire circuit this morning, though Sutton only edged out Sam Tordoff’s Ford Focus RS by 0.009 seconds.
Josh Cook’s Vauxhall Astra was third, with the trio separated by less than a tenth of a second, with fourth and fifth respectively for Rob Collard (BMW 1-series) and Rob Austin (Alfa Romeo Giulietta).
First practice pace-setter Tom Ingram was classified sixth in the Toyota Avensis, with seventh and eighth for Rory Butcher (MG6 GT) and BRDC Rising Star Jake Hill (Volkswagen CC) respectively making it eight different marques in the top eight positions.
Jason Plato was ninth in the second-quickest Subaru, with Andrew Jordan’s WSR BMW rounding out the top ten.
Two red flags permeated the session – the first to replace an errant tyre stack, though the cause of the second remains unknown, though all cars returned to the pits without damage.
Qualifying for Round 13 gets underway at 15:20 BST.
