Timo Glock aiming for further improvements for BMW at Lausitz

BMW Motorsport’s Timo Glock is aware that there is a chance for the Munich manufacturer to improve on past performances at Euro Speedway Lausitz this weekend, with the Brandeburg circuit hosting the second stop of the 2018 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters calendar.

The Team RMR driver, who had a very intense battle with Mercedes-AMG’s Gary Paffett on the Sunday at the Hockenheim opener, considered the first weekend of his 2018 campaign to have been ‘fantastic.’

But in recent times, BMW Motorsport have yet to take a victory at the 4.570-km circuit since the brand’s return to the DTM back in 2012, with Bruno Spengler taking the win there en route to his only drivers’ title so far.

“We will have to wait and see how it pans out. We have not been so strong there in the past,” stated Glock, whose best result at Lausitz was a tenth place in 2016 in the second race.

“However, our goal for this season is to improve at the circuits where we have not done so well up to now, and to score as many points there as possible.

“The Lausitzring is one of those circuits. We are really motivated and will do our very best.”

Heading into this weekend at Lausitz, Glock is the current points leader, ahead of Paffett by just a solitary point, with Mike Rockenfeller, Lucas Auer and Pascal Wehrlein all on 18 points.
