Rob Huff ‘looking forward to scoring good points’ on Monday

Rob Huff says he is looking forward to ‘scoring some good points’ in Monday’s FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) races, after qualifying his Volkswagen Golf GTi in second.

Huff made a slight mistake on his Q3 lap to end up almost half a second behind pole-sitter Jean-Karl Vernay, leaving the Sébastien Loeb Racing driver with a slower time than he had achieved in Sunday’s first qualifying session.

But the Brit was pleased to be on the front row of the grid for race three, having expected the Audi cars to provide stiff opposition around the Zandvoort circuit.

“I was really pleased – the track had changed a bit from yesterday so the balance was a little bit different,” said Huff. “We knew from yesterday the Audi was quick in sector one.

“I gave it my all but just had a big oversteer in Turn 3 and that lost us half a second or so. The time was in the car and in me but I made a mistake ultimately and lost it.”

Having driven for the WRT outfit in the TCR International Series last year, Huff was pleased to see his former team securing strong results in Holland.

“I’m happy for my compatriots at WRT, it was a hell of a lap by JK. I know what it felt like to do that kind of lap yesterday and it’s very satisfying.

“But [there are] good guys around me on the grid and I’m looking forward to scoring some good points today.”
