Reigning TCR International Series champion Jean-Karl Vernay will dovetail his commitments in the FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) with a campaign in the TCR Europe Series in 2018 with Audi Sport Leopard Lukoil.
Vernay is already competing in WTCR with the WRT-run squad, and the Frenchman will now also contest the seven event TCR Europe series, although his participation at the Zandvoort round is uncertain.
WTCR Promoter François Ribeiro had already made clear that drivers would not be allowed to race on tracks which the WTCR will visit before the FIA event. The Zandvoort TCR Europe event takes place on the same weekend as WTCR.
Vernay lifted the TCR title in 2017 after two seasons of trying, and the 30-year-old has four wins to his name in that series, as well as claiming a first win in WTCR last month in Morocco.
