Ciceley Racing’s Adam Morgan made an early break and stretched his advantage to win the final British Touring Car Championship race at Thruxton.
The lighter Mercedes A-Class got the better of Power Maxed Racing’s Senna Proctor at the start and held the lead through Allard, with Sam Tordoff’s Ford Focus ST behind unable to challenge.
That would have remained the order to the chequered flag, if not for a mid-race surge from Eurotech Racing’s Jack Goff to put his Honda Civic Type R onto the second step of the rostrum.
The result means Morgan usurps race two winner Josh Cook as the new championship leader by a single marker heading to the next meeting at Oulton Park in three weeks’ time.
He also picks up the Independent Drivers’ win, denying Tordoff a hat-trick.
Colin Turkington leaves Hampshire with the largest haul of points after the Team BMW racer held fifth in a ballast-laden BMW 125i M Sport, sixth tenths clear of Cook.
Tom Ingram rounded out a damage limitation exercise of a weekend in seventh, and courtesy of his overtaking masterclass in the middle contest wins the Dunlop Forever Forward stakes for round three.
Opening race winner Matt Neal took his Honda Civic Type R FK8 to eighth, with Chris Smiley making it a hat-trick of top tens in ninth, and local racer Rob Collard tenth.
