Fugel Sport have confirmed that they will run Honda Civic Type R cars under the Team Honda ADAC Sachsen banner in ADAC TCR Germany for Dominik Fugel and Mike Halder, with an older-spec Honda for Marcel Fugel.
Fugel Sport ran two cars in the 2017 TCR Germany series for Steve Kirsch and Oestreich, with Dominik Fugel himself originally set to have raced for the team before an injury prior to the season sidelined him for the year.
That gave Moritz Oestreich the opportunity to complete a full season in one of the team’s Hondas, with the 26-year-old going on to claim a win for the team and finish seventh overall in the standings, just behind Kirsch.
Oestreich had originally been announced as one of the team’s drivers in new Honda machinery, but he has now been replaced in the driver line-up by Halder.
The team originally announced their driver line up at the end of February, with Halder confirming his switch to Honda machinery at the end of last week.
This season the 2017 runner-up Mike Halder will join the team, switching from SEAT León machinery to the new JAS Motorsport-built car.
Marcel Fugel will also join the team in an old-spec car in 2018, competing in the season opener and possibly further races depending on his results.
“I can tell you today that I will be at the start of the ADAC TCR Germany season with the Fugel Sport TCR team,” said Mike Halder. “I’ll push the pedals of the new Honda Civic TCR.
“Together with PROFI-CAR I will enter a team in the ADAC TCR Germany. Marcel Fugel will join the steering wheel with my sister Michelle Halder.
“ADAC Foundation Sport colleague Dominik Fugel will be my new teammate. I am very pleased to be able to drive the new Honda Civic Type R.”
Update: This article originally said that Moritz Oestreich would be racing with the team in 2018. This is now not the case, with the German having been replaced by Mike Halder.
