Dušan Borković confirms TCR Europe campaign in 2018

Serbian touring car racer Dušan Borković has confirmed that he will take part in the TCR Europe series in 2018, although he has yet to confirm either the car or team with whom he will compete.

Borković has spent the past two seasons racing in the TCR International Series, and he has previously competed in the former Eurosport-run world Touring Car Championship in 2014 and 2015.

Although the 33-year-old claims he had offers to compete in the 2018 FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR), he says he has opted to focus on the seven-event TCR Europe series due to ‘unknowns’ and ‘risks’ in WTCR.

“I had a few great offers from WTCR,” said Borković. “But considering it’s a whole new competition with a lot of innovations, it was a great unknown for me and my team and a lot of risk for this season.

“My plan is to fight for podiums and the best standings this season. I made the decision and I believe it to be the best for me and my team, sponsors, and Serbia.

“TCR Europe gives me greater competitiveness, more tests, better car and team and I can’t wait to start competing.

“The competition in this championship will be very strong. There will be a lot of great drivers on the track. I know some of the circuits and some are new to me but I am always up for the challenge.

“I will have the first test soon, that is one of the reasons I chose TCR Europe. I will have the opportunity to prepare not only for this season but also for the next one, no matter where I’ll compete then.”

Further details will be announced in the coming days.

The TCR Europe season begins at Circuit Paul Ricard on the first weekend in May.
