Eurotech Racing retain Jack Goff for second successive campaign

Jack Goff will remain behind the wheel of a Eurotech Racing Honda Civic Type R for the 2018 British Touring Car Championship, it has been announced.

The fans’ favourite took three pole positions with Jeff Smith’s outfit and a second career race victory at Silverstone, narrowly missing out on the Independent Driver’s title to Speedworks’ Tom Ingram.

It marks the first time in Goff’s BTCC career that he has remained with the same team and in the same machinery for consecutive seasons.

His previous berths include Team.HARD, the works MG outfit and behind the wheel of a BMW 1-series for West Surrey Racing.

Eurotech also recently announced Matt Simpson would run out of their garage in 2018 as they expand once more to a three-car outfit, and MINI Challenge champion Brett Smith is expected to retain his drive with the team alongside Goff.

“This will be the first time that I have been with the same team for two consecutive seasons since 2014, and that is a great foundation for me,” said Goff.

“I worked well with my engineer Adam Tanner last year, and from Snetterton in July onwards, we unlocked some real pace from the car. We had three poles which proved our Saturday pace, and we were flying on Sundays too.”

Team Principal Smith also underlined his pleasure at concluding a deal this early in the off-season, which enables the team to finalise its testing programme before the curtain-raiser at Brands Hatch on 7-8 April.

“We are very pleased to continue working with Jack,” commented Smith.

“We had a really strong season last year, we work well together and that has shown from the results, Jack fits in to our team dynamic perfectly.

“To be able to confirm his seat this early on in the year enables us all to hit the ground running and press on with our 2018 plans and preparation.”
