Sean Walkinshaw Racing enjoy ‘productive’ TCR UK test day

Sean Walkinshaw Racing enjoyed a ‘productive’ TCR UK series test day at Brands Hatch on Thursday, as the outfit ran its Honda alongside six other TCR manufacturers for drivers considering the new series.

The Oxfordshire-based outfit were amongst the first teams to announce their planned participation in the new UK series in 2018, and have already tested their new Honda Civic TCR in the country at Donington Park in October, having received it from Belgium the same month.

SWR took part in the ‘demo day’ at Brands Hatch, host of the third round of the series next year, to give newcomers a taste of what the TCR concept is all about.

“We had a good day of it, very productive,” said SWR Team Principal Ken Page. “It was a good advertisement for the championship ahead of next year.

“Everyone at TCR UK looked after the teams and drivers well and it was fantastic to see so many manufacturers there, it shows the popularity of the category already.

“Our Honda ran very reliably and we had some good feedback from the drivers we worked with, overall the team made some good steps forward and we’re very happy with how things are going.

“It was great to run the car in its proper livery for the first time too, the blue chrome looks fantastic on track, and there definitely seems to be a lot of interest in the concept of TCR UK.”

As well as the Honda from SWR, cars from Alfa Romeo, Audi, Hyundai, Opel (badged as a Vauxhall), SEAT and Volkswagen were all represented at the test.

SWR will add TCR to their existing GT4 endurance programme in 2018.
