Joel Eriksson and Philipp Eng to represent BMW at Lausitzring Young Driver test

BMW Motorsport junior driver Joel Eriksson and seasoned sportscar racer Philip Eng will take part in the forthcoming Young Driver Tests at the Lausitzring, taking place between the 24th and 26th of October.

Eriksson, who has been a part of Munich’s junior racing program since 2016, finished second in this year’s FIA Formula 3 European Championship, behind eventual champion Lando Norris.

During 2017, the Swede secured seven wins and seven second-place finishes with Oschersleben-based race team Motopark, and is the younger brother of Jimmy Eriksson, who currently competes in the Blancpain GT Series.

Austrian racer Eng originally started his career in single-seaters, taking part in Formula  BMW ADAC back in 2006, with a win at the World Final the following year giving the Salzburg-based driver a test with BMW Sauber F1.

He made the switch to sportscars in 2011, starting off in the ADAC GT Masters with Callaway Competition and a one-off appearance in Porsche Carrera Cup Germany that same season.

The 27-year-old raced with BMW Team Schnitzer in the ADAC GT Masters, taking a win at the season opener in Oschersleben on his way to finishing fourth in the points standings, along with racing in the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup.
