Luca Engstler given post-race penalty in Sachsenring race one

Luca Engstler has been hit with a post-race 30-second penalty in the first ADAC TCR Germany race at the Sachsenring, handing the fourth position to defending champion Josh Files.

Engstler was involved in an incident with Team Honda ADAC Sachsen’s Steve Kirsch on the second lap of the race, resulting in the Honda driver being forced off the circuit and into the barriers.

The incident necessitated a brief safety car period for the recovery of Kirsch’s car, whilst Engstler went on to finish in fourth.

The result gives defending champion an additional three points from the race one result, as the Brit finished directly behind main title rival Mike Halder on the road.

Engstler himself was subsequently classified in 19th position, for which he picks up two points.
