Salzburgring results remain provisional pending appeal

Craft-Bamboo Racing have appealed the decision of the TCR International Series’ Technical Delegate to reject their protest against the legality of the Alfa Romeo and Opel cars in Austria.

The team had initially protested the legality of the turbochargers on the cars, after DG Sport Compétition’s Mat’o Homola took pole position in an Opel, and then GE-Force driver Dušan Borković won the opening race on Sunday in an Alfa Romeo.

Meanwhile, Craft-Bamboo drivers failed to record a single podium result at the high-speed circuit, with Pepe Oriola’s fifth place in race one being their best result of the weekend, despite the Spaniard qualifying in third on Saturday.

The Anglo-Hong Kong team have been concerned all year about the straight-line speed performance of their SEAT León cars in comparison to the competition.

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta cars run with a smaller, 1.8-litre, engine, whilst the Opel Astras feature the normal two-litre engine found in the majority of TCR cars.

As a result of the appeal, the results from the meeting remain provisional.
