M1RA’s Roberto Colciago was the fastest driver of the day after second practice for the TCR International Series at Monza, ahead of GE-Force driver Dušan Borković and Craft-Bamboo Racing’s Hugo Valente.
The Italian went fastest in the closing minutes of the session to post the fastest lap of the day, beating the 1:59.892 set in the morning’s earlier session by Pepe Oriola. Colciago, who is without success ballast this weekend in contrast to Spa one week ago, was the only driver to break the sub-two minute barrier in second practice.
Third fastest was Craft-Bamboo’s Valente, who this time had the edge over his two team-mates, ending up just over half a second off the pace.
The morning’s pace-setter Oriola was fourth, ahead of the leading Comtoyou Racing Audi of Frédéric Vervisch in fifth.
DG Sport’s Mat’o Homola was seventh, whilst WestCoast Racing’s Gianni Morbidelli was eighth, making it six different makes of car inside the top seven places.
The issues persisted for Stian Paulsen in second practice, with a blown rear tyre causing damage to his SEAT after he earlier endured engine problems in the opening practice session.
Neither of the Leopard Racing cars cracked the top ten, with championship leader Jean-Karl Vernay in 13th and one-off team-mate Jaap van Lagen in 15th place, over a second and a half off the pace.
Qualifying takes place at 10:45 CEST (09:45 BST) on Saturday, followed by race one at 14:30 CEST (13:30 BST).
