Top Run re-joins TCR International Series in Thailand

The Top Run Motorsport team will rejoin the TCR International Series at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand this weekend, having missed the past five meetings of the season.

The Italian team took a break from the racing in order to focus on the development of its Subaru WRX STi car, which included a trip to Subaru headquarters in Japan as part of a meeting which resulted in more support from the project from the car maker.

During the past four months the team have built a brand new car which incorporates numerous technical improvements in an effort to be closer to the front of the field.

The car has since been extensively tested by experienced touring car driver Luca Rangoni.

“Following the meeting we had in Tokyo with Subaru STi, we have built a brand new car that features a number of technical improvements and some new parts that are better suited to the TCR regulations,” explained Team Manager Renato Russo.

“The new car successfully went through an intensive testing programme and was later shipped to Thailand where our technical staff will be assisted by David Rowe of MoTec for the engine management and Hiroshi Nakagawa of TEIN for the dampers.”

Russo also confirmed that the team are planning to run two cars in the final three events of the season at Marina Bay in Singapore, Sepang in Malaysia and the Guia Circuit in Macau.

“We have also upgraded our first car to the same specifications – the one that was raced in the last events of 2015 and in the first two of the current season,” added Russo. “That car has been shipped to Singapore. We will run both cars there, in Malaysia and at Macau.”

The car is to be driven once again by Italian Luigi Ferrara this weekend, who last took the wheel of the car in Bahrain.
