Mat Jackson ‘making a habit’ of winning

A jubilant Mat Jackson was delighted with a second British Touring Car Championship victory of the season in race one at Silverstone.

Jackson, who had secured pole on Saturday afternoon with a qualifying record of the Northamptonshire circuit, blitzed his rivals with a dominant performance in his Ford Focus to finish 2.138s clear of Andrew Jordan’s MG.

And speaking to TouringCars.Net, the Motorbase driver was thrilled with the manner in which he had taken his win after easing away from his rivals.

“We’re making a habit of this,” smiled Jackson. “It was an easy race from pole to be honest; we managed to just break that gap and pull away.

“We managed to keep the lead – it was really good.”

Jackson utilised the clear track in front of him in the opening laps of the first race, and after recording a lap record of 58.464s, will start the second race from pole.

But Jackson insisted that while a second win of the day was his aim, he would be taking nothing for granted with his car gaining significant weight ahead of race two.

“We’re off pole again [for race two] – obviously 75 kilograms isn’t going to help but let’s see what we can do.”
