Rob Huff to make TCR début for WestCoast Racing in Macau

2012 World Touring Car Champion Rob Huff will make his début in the TCR International Series at the season finale in Macau later this year, racing a fourth WestCoast Racing Honda Civic.

Huff is the most successful touring car driver around the Circuito da Guia, having won on the streets of Macau seven times previously. With the WTCC not visiting the circuit in 2015, and a gap existing in the racing calendar, Huff has been presented with the opportunity to continue his run of form at the track.

Huff becomes the first former WTCC champion to enter the newly-created TCR championship, which concludes in Macau following a trio of flyaway Asian events.

“Macau’s Circuito da Guia street track is quite simply the most challenging race circuit I’ve ever raced on and my record is strong there,” said Huff. “I’m really pleased to have been invited to drive in the TCR International Series finale there and I am confident we will have a competitive package for this truly unique event.

“It also serves as a great opportunity to team up with and compete against friend and sometime endurance racing teammate Kevin Gleason, who has emerged as a race winner in the inaugural season of the TCR International Series with WestCoast Racing and, while it will be a lot of fun, I’ll certainly be trying to get more Macau wins!”

WestCoast Racing Team Manager James Nixon is pleased to be able to welcome LADA WTCC driver Huff to the team for the event, which has been agreed in cooperation with car builder JAS Motorsport.

“Rob is widely regarded as one of the world’s best touring car drivers and is unquestionably the most successful driver ever to compete in Macau so we are delighted to have the opportunity to welcome him to WestCoast Racing for the event, to bolster our existing squad,” said Nixon.

“We have to thank JAS Motorsport for making this happen. We were provided with a very competitive base with the Honda Civic TCR and have been able to build on that throughout the season, and JAS has been instrumental in bringing Rob aboard for the Macau season finale, where I’m sure we will be potent.”
