Gordon Shedden set the fastest time in the second British Touring Car Championship practice session at Knockhill, ahead of Jeff Smith and Sam Tordoff.
Following on from his pace-setting effort in the opening practice session, Shedden usurped Smith – who initially went fastest before causing a brief red flag – with ten minutes to go before setting a better time, as he became the first driver to dip below the 52s barrier with a 51:898s.
Smith returned to the track after his off but was unable to respond, while Tordoff was the best-placed of the West Surrey Racing cars, 0.270s slower than Shedden.
Mat Jackson continued his impressive pace from the morning’s session with the fourth best time, just 0.003s ahead of Andy Priaulx, while Andrew Jordan was sixth in his MG.
Rob Collard was seventh ahead of Adam Morgan, while there was an improvement in pace from championship leader Jason Plato as the Team BMR driver recorded the ninth fastest time, with Tom Ingram rounding out the top ten.
Qualifying is scheduled for 15:05 BST.
