Andrea Belicchi and Oscar Nogués get penalties

Andrea Belicchi has been excluded from the results of the second TCR International Series race in Valencia, whilst Oscar Nogués has been handed a suspended five-place grid penalty for the next two events.

Belicchi was handed a drive-through penalty during the race for having been adjudged to have overtaken behind the safety car, along with Pepe Oriola, Sergey Afanasyev, Lucile Cypriano, David Cebrián Ariza and Lorenzo Veglia.

However the Target Competition driver did not observe the penalty like his rivals during the race, leading to a provision Target 1-2-3 in the race.

The decision promotes WestCoast Racing’s Gianni Morbidelli up to third position, despite the Italian having been involved in another penalty-producing incident at the start of the race.

For that incident, Oscar Nogués Farré was given a suspended five-place grid penalty for the next two events. The Campos Racing driver was deemed to have caused the accident when he went across the front of Morbidelli’s Honda, crashing into Craft-Bamboo Racing’s Jordi Gené and taking both Spaniards out of the race.

It is not yet clear if Nogués will be entered into the next event in Portugal, as his participation this weekend was as a last-minute replacement for Igor Skuz.
