Engstler Motorsport confirms entry into 2015 TCR Asia Series

Engstler Motorsport has confirmed that it will enter the 2015 TCR Asia Series, with the German team planning an initial two-car entry into the series which is planned to start in August 2015.

The German team, which has been campaigning a pair of Audi TT Cup Cars and a sole SEAT León in the opening rounds of the TCR International Series, has announced plans to enter a pair of cars into the first round of the TCR Asia Series at Zhuhai in China on August 14.

The team has plans to enter a third, as yet unspecified, car later in the season.

“I’m pleased to announce that Liqui Moly Team Engstler will expand its program to participate in the maiden season of the TCR Asia Series,” confirmed Team Boss Franz Engslter, who has a long history of racing touring cars in Asia. “Already we have two drivers confirmed, and we look forward to revealing a third driver in the near future.

“Personally I have enjoyed great success in Asia in the past, and I hope that we can relive that success in TCR Asia Series this year.”

Although plans for the start of the TCR Asia Series have already been delayed, Series Promoter David Sonenscher admits that he is pleased to be able to reveal the first participants already.

“Much of the focus prior to Sepang two weeks ago was in getting the International Series underway, and that’s now completed, with the event declared a great success,” said Sonenscher.

“Now focus turns to TCR Asia Series, and although we’re still three months away, we’re finally able to start to reveal the teams that are competing, so it is with great pleasure that we’re able to announce that Liqui Moly Team Engstler will join us for our maiden season.

“We have had a long association with Franz through his years competing in the Asian Touring Car Series almost ten years ago, however since then he has gone on to develop one of the leading Touring Car teams in the world, and we’re proud to have them join us for debut season of TCR Asia Series.”
