Norbert Nagy to race for Campos in Belgium

Hungarian driver Norbert Nagy is to race the second Campos Racing SEAT León in this weekend’s World Touring Car Championship races at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium.

Nagy steps up from the European Touring Car Championship, where has has been campaigning a Chevrolet Cruze for the MGS Racing Team in 2014. Nagy finished seventh in the single make trophy for SEAT León cup cars in the ETCC in 2013, driving for the Zengő Junior Team.

Nagy, who was present at the previous ETCC event in Salzburg despite not racing, explains that the deal has come about as a gesture of goodwill from the Spanish Campos outfit.

“Gearbox problems forced me to miss the ETCC event as the Salzburgring, but I was there and when we heard that Campos Racing needed to solve some technical issues, my team offered them help,” said Nagy, 19. “As a sign of gratitude, Campos Racing offered me to take part in the next WTCC event.

“This is a great opportunity for me! I am looking forward to the races and I hope I can get a lot of experience for the future, as my goal is to join WTCC for a full season.”

Nagy will be the fourth different driver to race a León for Campos Racing in the TC2T class, after regular driver John Filippi and guest drivers Petr Fulín and Nikita Misiulia. Nagy also becomes only the third Hungarian driver to start a WTCC race.
