Engstler Motorsport will continue in the World Touring Car Championship in 2014, fielding two BMW 320 TC’s for Franz Engstler and an as-yet un-named second driver.
German team Engstler Motorsport have been regulars in the WTCC since 2008, during which time they have taken one win and three podiums in 146 race starts.
In 2013 the team competed with 52-year-old Engstler himself and Hong Kong racer Charles Kaki Ng, scoring a best result of seventh for Ng in the second race in Japan.
Team Manager Kurt Treml says that the team hope to be able to announce their second driver shortly.
“We have currently a few negotiations ongoing for the second car and hope to unveil the name of Franz’s team-mate in the next days,” said Treml.
No other announcements have yet been made for the TC2 category although Special Tuning Racing are understood to be considering an entry. The deadline for full-season entries into the championship passed on 14th March, although teams may still lodge entries on a race-by-race basis.
