RML’s Yvan Muller was third fastest, having been pipped by Michelisz towards the end. Honda’s Tiago Monteiro was fourth fastest, ahead of the Tuenti Racing Chevrolet of Pepe Oriola in fifth, who was the last driver within a second of Huff’s time.

The top BMW driver was Stefano D’Aste in sixth for his self-run PB Racing squad, 1.167 seconds off the pace. His time came despite a brush with WTCC newcomer Konstantins Calko at Moorish bend early in the session.

RML’s Tom Chilton was seventh, ahead of ROAL Motorsport’s Tom Coronel, LADA’s James Thompson and Proteam Racing’s Mehdi Bennani in tenth.

WTCC débutant Michael Soong was the top driver in the EuroSport Asia Trophy in 22nd, with the Campos Racing driver heading the eleven drivers entered in the category.

Nika Racing’s Yukinori Taniguchi finished the session down in 33rd after a heavy crash at Reservoir bend, bringing about the red flags to stop the session.
