Steady progress for Münnich Motorsport

The ALL-INKL.com Münnich Motorsport team secured three top ten finishes on the streets of Marrakech as Rob Huff and Marc Basseng secured points.

Huff secured a top five finish in the opening race of the weekend having challenged former team-mate Yvan Muller for 4th for the duration and only just missed out on 4th on the run to the chequered flag.

The Briton wasn’t able to repeat his race one finish after contact at the final hairpin at the end of the opening lap saw him retire with suspension damage.

2012 FIA GT1 World Champion Marc Basseng secured a double top ten finish in the #38 SEAT Leon, with a best result of the weekend coming in the second race as he finished 5th, to back up his 7th place finish from the opening race of the weekend.

“This was a solid performance, we had good speed and what an amazing manner, we are really close to the Chevrolet cars already as the newbie’s. It is very sad that Rob and René were unlucky at the second race,” explains Basseng, who finds himself 7th in the Championship with 28 points.

“A city course is not the easiest terrain for a newbie in a new car, but in the end we showed a good performance“, he added.

René Münnich brought the #37 SEAT Leon home 15th in the first race before suffering a damaged tyre in the second race, damage which meant that the Team Principal had to retire from the race.

“In Marrakesh, we showed again that we are on the right way“, team principal René Münnich said. “We gathered the most points of all the Seat cars and we are also happy about the first season win for Seat by Pepe Oriola, congratulations.“

Next up for the team is a trip to Slovakia and the Slovakia Ring over the 27/28 April and Basseng hopes that their experience from racing there in the FIA GT1 World Championship will help them move forwards.

“Now we hope for the Slovakia Ring in about three weeks,” adds Basseng. “We know this track from the GT1 championship last year very well. We had good results on that track and maybe we can finish a bit more at the front of the field at the WTCC because of that. “
