Tambay victorious in Andros Ice Racing

Photo by Bernard Bakalin/PABDeutsche Tourenwagen Masters driver Adrien Tambay has taken victory in the final race of the 2012/2013 ‘Trophée Andros Electrique’ at the Super Besse resort in France, taking his third victory of the season.

Regular Audi pilot Tambay took victory from Christophe Ferrier in the race, specifically for electric vehicles. Tambay took victory in the final by 2.705 seconds from his fellow Frenchman.

Tambay had previous finished on the podium seven times, and also took victory at Alpe D’Huez and Lans En Vercors, ultimately finishing second overall in the championship with 340 points, tied with Franck Lagorce, compared to winner Ferrier’s 379.

“The ice racing series was a very good way of spending the winter,” explained 21-year-old Tambay. “The races are a lot of fun and good practice in terms of vehicle control. I’ll profit from that in the DTM too.”

Tambay took victory despite sustaining a recent wrist injury which forced him to race with a splint and largely one-handed.
