James Nash ready for Hungary

James Nash will look to put the disappointments of the Slovakia Ring behind him when he takes to the Hungaroring this weekend, the venue for rounds seven and eight of the 2012 World Touring Car Championship.

Throughout the practice sessions in Slovakia, twenty six year old Nash had the #14 Team Aon Ford Focus inside the top four and come qualifying, he was able to replicate that result before being demoted to fourteenth after failing the ride height checks.

Race day saw Nash retire on the opening lap of the first race and that was his weekend over – the damage sustained was unable to be repaired in time for the second race of the weekend.

“I think that we proved in Slovakia that we’re making good progress with the development of the new Ford Focus. We were quick in all of the sessions but when it came to performing in the races our luck was clearly out,” explained Nash.

“It was no co-incidence I think that the new-to-the-WTCC Slovakiaring was the first time this season that we had arrived at a track that nobody else had previous year’s data to guide them.“

The trip to the Hungaroring will be another new circuit for Nash and the team but he hopes that time in the simulator as well as a track walk will help to resolve some of the disadvantages of it being their first trip to the circuit.

“While the Hungaroring will redress the previous status quo to a degree, I am buoyed by the pace we drew from the car in Slovakia. We’re due I think a change for the better in our race fortunes and I am even more determined than usual to secure a good pair of results,” concluded Nash.
