Forster Motorsport to miss Knockhill

Forster Motorsport drivers Martin Depper and Arthur Forster will miss the Knockhill race meeting in just under two weeks time. The decision has been taken after Depper suffered a significant accident in the third of the BTCC races at Silverstone, when he ploughed into the back of Alex MacDowall’s stalled Chevrolet Cruze.

The move once again highlights the united front of the team which has both Depper and Forster as joint team principals. Indeed at the start of their season, Forster himself made his debut one meeting sooner than Depper only due to the volcanic ash causing chaos with global air travel leaving Depper stranded in the US.

“Obviously there’s disappointment in not being able to do Knockhill but you have to accept that sometimes these things can happen in motor sport,” Depper told btcc.net “What’s important is the team has not messed about in two minds – it’s taken the decision and now can put all its efforts into using the next four weeks or so to make sure the car is right for Donington.”

The damage suffered to Depper’s BMW was extensive – the front end of the car heavily crumpled. The previous day he had suffered a high-speed off in which the rear of his car was also damaged, although the team were able to fix the car to get him out on Sunday. Forster Motorsport will now spend time rebuilding his car for Donington Park.
